The sky is the limit for Griffith Aviation

Griffith University continues to fly high as a leader in aviation studies in Australia after winning two significant awards at the Australia Aviation Awards.

The inaugural awards were held in September 2022 in Sydney, and Griffith University won Training and Mentor Provider of the Year, and current student, James Chester, won Young Aviator of the Year.

With nearly 120 individual and organisation finalists nominating this year in over 20 categories, Griffith University flew high and took out the two awards amongst some tough national competition.

Griffith University also had two other finalists for the Young Aviator of the Year, Dr Xiaoyu Wu who is an academic at Griffith and Chace Eldridge who is a Griffith Alumni.

Since the 1990’s, Griffith University has built an international reputation for graduates that are industry ready through our innovative approach to aviation education. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in pilot training and aviation management, plus double degrees in Engineering and Information Technology, and a Graduate Diploma of Flight Management (GDFM) for commercial flight training.

Dr Christine Boag-Hodgson, Head of Aviation Discipline said the awards were a recognition of Griffith Aviation’s contribution to the aviation industry, our supportive and collaborative mentorship culture, and our innovative programs.

“Griffith Aviation is excited that we have won these awards at the inaugural Australian Aviation Awards event, given the disruption to the industry from COVID-19. We are delighted to be an active part of the bounce-back in the Australian aviation industry,” Dr Boag-Hodgson said.

“Griffith has been recognised for 25 years internationally as a leader in aviation education and we pride ourselves in equipping our graduates with industry ready skills to navigate the future of this changing industry.”

Griffith University has been helping the careers of graduates take-off for over 25 years. More information about the opportunities to study aviation at Griffith, be it starting a new career or consolidating skills as an aviation professional can be found on the Aviation study page
